SUMMARY:Plugs for the Prairies: Van Hove Part 2
DESCRIPTION:Photo by Mark Bernards\n\n\n\nHelp restore rare prairie habitat to the Rice Lake Plains! Historically\, the Rice Lake Plains were covered with tall grass prairies and oak savannah\, which were dominated by massive black and white oak\, grasses like big bluestem and switchgrass thrived and a diverse range of wildflowers blossomed. Today\, the oak savannah and tall grass prairie of the Rice Lake Plains are  badly fragmented and overgrown with non-native species. Help give this globally rare habitat a comeback by planting native prairie species  plugs on our Van Hove property. \n\n\n\nIf you’re interested in carpooling with other volunteers (driving\, or catching a ride) please click here. DESCRIPTION:Postponed from April 26th due to inclement weather. \n\n\n\nJoin the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority (GRCA) and the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA) in an exploration of the night sky. \n\n\n\nStart the evening off with equipment demonstrations and displays\, then enjoy an ‘Astronomy 101’ presentation in the Great Hall of the Ganaraska Forest Centre before venturing back outside to try your hand at searching the dark sky with members of the PAA. \n\n\n\nThe fee to participate in this informative and educational evening is $15.00 + HST per adult and $10.00 + HST per child (16 & under). \n\n\n\nPre-registration is required by calling the GRCA at 905.885.8173.
